Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has hosted world investors, diplomats, policy experts, and top dignitaries at the maiden edition of the Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit, aimed at unlocking vast investment opportunities in the state.

The landmark event, which took place at the newly commissioned Bauchi International Conference Centre (ICC), marks the first of its kind in the state’s history and underscores Governor Bala Mohammed’s vision to reposition Bauchi as a major investment hub in Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, commended the initiative, describing it as a forward-thinking step toward economic diversification and sustainable growth. He emphasized the importance of partnership between the federal and sub-national governments to attract private investment and spur national development.

Governor Bala Mohammed, while addressing participants, said the summit aligns with his administration’s development blueprint tagged “My Bauchi Project.” He explained that the summit was organized to open Bauchi State to global investors through meaningful partnerships and engagement with key stakeholders.

According to him, Bauchi State offers vast investment opportunities across critical sectors including agribusiness, education, healthcare, agriculture, natural and mineral resources, oil and gas, and the energy sector. He assured potential investors of the state government’s readiness to provide incentives and an enabling environment for business growth and prosperity.

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, alongside diplomats, investors, and the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, delivered goodwill messages, describing the summit as timely and commendable. They expressed their commitment to supporting and investing in the state’s development initiatives.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in his remarks, advocated for stronger collaboration among federal, state, and local governments, investors, and international partners to drive sustainable economic growth.

Also speaking, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Mahmood Yayale Ahmed, praised Governor Bala Mohammed for his foresight, stating that the summit’s theme, “Rebuilding a Resilient Economy: Optimizing Investment and Partnership,” reflects a clear vision for economic transformation.

In his overview, the State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mohammed Salis Gamawa, reaffirmed that Bauchi State is fully open and prepared for investors to explore its abundant resources.

Similarly, Architect Ruben Okoya, Chairman of Architectronix Ltd—the firm that constructed the ultra-modern Bauchi International Conference Centre—revealed that the facility was built to international standards using locally sourced materials.

The summit is expected to serve as a major platform for showcasing Bauchi’s investment potential and fostering strategic collaborations for long-term socio-economic development.
